Loose cannon George backfires, yet again
Once again, Union Defence Minister George Fernandes is at the centre of a controversy. The Election Commission has rejected his charge that surplus ballot papers had been printed for the Nalanda and Barh Lok Sabha constituencies of Bihar and accused him of indulging in corrupt electoral practices.

Lalita case -- France begins judicial probe
Signalling the seriousness with which it is dealing with the matter, the French Government Prosecutor has begun a judicial investigation into the case of Lalita Oraon, the 17-year-old housemaid of an Indian diplomat in Paris.

`Naik has papers on secret Indo-Pak talks'
The controversy surrounding former Pakistan foreign secretary Niaz Naik plot seems to have thickened with a newspaper now reporting that Naik's confessions to the daily Jung last week were those he had privately shared with diplomats, policy makers and journalists on several occasions in the past.
