No immersions of idols in weir, says SMC chief
Surat Municipal Commissioner Guruprasad Mohapatra has asked residents not to immerse Ganesh idols in the Weir-cum-Causeway. In a statement issued here, the commissioner said action would be taken against those found violating the directive. He said idols should be immersed only where permitted by the authorities.

CII discussion
Naishadh I Parikh, Director of Arvind Mills Ltd and former Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will chair a discussion on ``New Economic Policy of Gujarat State 2000-2010'' organised by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the occasion of the Chamber's quarterly meeting to be held on Tuesday at 2.30 at Surat People's Bank Hall, Samruddhi.

Women's seminar
The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry has organised a seminar for women. Dr Avinash Chandra Agrawal of the Academy of Natural Development and Excellence, Gwalior, will deliver the keynote address on `How to be a successful woman' on September 24 at 3 pm at the People's Bank hall, Samruddhi building, Nanpura. All interested in attending the seminar should register their names with the Chamber office.
