EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, Sept 20: Precision maneuvering is the name of the sport. Sanjay Takale did exactly that which paid off as he rode home first in the TVS Suzuki-PARA motorcycle rally held in the city on Sunday.

The rally held as part of the Ganesh Festival celebrations on a 200 kilometer two-stage route had Sanjay brave natural terrain on his Suzuki Shogun and log just 16.06s to pip second placed Delhi's Harleen Dhillon by a full minute.

With the first stage ridden on pure tarmac, on the Pune-Katraj-Kondanpur- Sinhagad-Panshet section, city lad Sanjay opened up a substantial lead and proved a tough customer. However, with the second stage aimed to bring out the best in a rider had broken tarmac, slush and a host of hair-pin bends en-route the Pansheth-Bhalwadi-Velha-Shivapur-Bhivri-Bhapdeo ghat saw Sanjay open out a substantial lead which was enough to give him first place. Harleen finished second with 17.06 PP, while Ashutosh Kale of Kolhapur finished third logging 17.12 PP.

The victory thus helped Sanjay lift the Late Kiran Chavan Trophy for the best rider. The section overall had sixteen competitors take starting orders at Nehru Stadium and had the Suzuki's outgun the Yamaha's with three finishing among the top five.
