Scooter dealer robbed of 1 lakh

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Sept 24: Two motorcycle-borne youths reportedly robbed a scooter dealer of Rs 1 lakh here, this evening.

Police sources said Hardyal Singh, who was returning home in his Maruti car at around 8 p.m. after closing his shop, Rattan Enterprises in Sector 26, was approached by two youngsters on a motorcycle who had been chasing his car. They told him that he had a punctured tyre and when Hardyal Singh stopped to have a look, a youngster came to offer him help.

As Hardyal went to open the dickey, the youth, who was apparently in his mid-20s, lifted the briefcase lying on one of the front seats and ran away. A few metres away, another youth was waiting on a motorcycle and the two sped off. The complainant said the bag contained about Rs 1 lakh. The incident occurred on the road opposite Jat Bhawan in Sector 27.

The police have registered a case under Section 379 of IPC and have begun investigations.
