SAS NAGAR, Sept 24: A Chandigarh resident, Ravinder Dhawan succumbed to his injuries here on Thursday at Saha Hospital, where he was admitted on Wednesday after complaining of severe pain due to a fracture. The family members alleged that Dhawan died due to negligence by the doctor.

Dr Salil Saha, when contacted, denied any negligence on part of doctor and said: "He received injuries due to a fracture in the leg after he suffered a fall a week ago. Yesterday, Dhawan visited the hospital and was posted for surgery in Operation Theatre (OT), where he was given regional anaesthesia by a comptent anaesthesist Suman Grover. Soon after administering the drug, he developed hypotension tension repeatedly and could not survive despite several efforts".

Police have initiated proceedings under 174 of the CrPC. No arrests had been made so far and investigations are on.

When contacted, Tilak Raj, father of the deceased, alleged that his son died because of negligence on part of the doctor and added that Ravinder died while being operated upon, as he was given an injection.

He said his son's scooter had skidded and as a result fractured his leg. The victim was taken to INCON, were he was plastered by the same doctor and developed pain later on and was told to get admitted.
