Weekend Retreat/Nasser Abdullah
The Red and White man is as macho as he was when he started out as a model way back in the 80s. His priorities however are no longer the same. Nasser Abdullah is looking for ``more creative avenues'' now. And they don't seem to be opening up ever since he's come out of his hibernation in Delhi, because, as he says, ``almost every other day is a weekend''.He's finished shooting for an episode of Saturday Suspense and is working on a couple of others. ``It so happens that on Saturdays and Sundays I'm engaged with shoots while through the week I'm just toying with ideas.'' But his all-time favourite retreat is Matheran. ``A long walk through the shady groves of Matheran'' is what he cherishes from his last trip to this nearby retreat. And maybe that's where the ideas come from? Because Nasser is planning to direct and feature in a music video soon. And it won't be just another Indi-pop song. ``May be an old Hindi favourite or a devotional song'' is what he has in mind. After a small stint in theatrewith one of Pearl Padamsee's plays earlier, a good role eluded him till he was signed on for the Saturday Suspense story on Zee. Nasser is, of course, looking for much more. As for his retreats, he plans many more to Matheran in the near future, with both family and friends. Nasser is not too much of a party-hopper either. If he isn't holidaying in shady groves, he's either working or, well, "ideating". Copyright © 1999 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
