The resolution was moved by Bhaskar Bhandakkar of the Vidyapeeth Shikshan Manch at a meeting of the Academic Council here on Tuesday.

Though the resolution was finally accepted in principle, several members expressed apprehensions about the fate of students who could be victims of careless valuation.

It was felt that the only alternative to revaluation would be a sound and proper first valuation. To ensure this, it was suggested that the first valuation should be done by two valuers instead of one and the papers then be scanned by the moderator.

The Academic Council decided to let the Board of Examinations constitute a committee of its own to work out the modalities of giving effect to today's resolution.The report of such a committee would then be considered by the council.

Dr Hira Aher, Dhananjay Mandlekar and Ramdas Ambatkar submitted a proposal to create question banks for all streams and faculties. The creation of such a compilation of probable questions would expedite the setting of papers by university authorities and also limit the chances of leaks, it was felt.

The council referred the matter to a committee consisting of Anil Dhage, R G Bhoyar, Dr A K Sakle and Dr Tara Choudhary.

R G Bhoyar moved a resolution which sought to hand over to affiliated colleges the conduct of first year BA, B Com and B Sc examinations.
