Need to popularise Gandhian school of thought stressed

SAS NAGAR, Oct 3: The Akhil Bhartia Bharat Joro Sangathan organised a meeting of educationists and social workers in SAS Nagar, to celebrate the birthday of Father of the Nation Mahatama Gandhi.

The educationists who spoke on the occasion stressed on the need to popularise the Gandhi school of thought through the media and educational institutions, so that the coming generations could be prevented from being influenced by the Western style of thought and living.

Addressing the gathering, Sangthan president Ram Raj Gill stressed the need for the implementation of Lal Bahadur Shastri's ideology so as to help the people of the country regain their faith in the political system of the country.

Environment Society prize distribution function held
A prize distribution function was held by the Environment Protection Society, Mohali at Government School Phase III-B-1. Prizes were given to school children who had recently participated in the painting and essay-writing competition held by the society.

Addressing the gathering, Additional Chief Administrator Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA), Depinder Singh, said he had there was no doubt that the authorities did not recognise the good work done by the Non-Government Organisations in this field.

He said that citizens had a large role in a democracy and changes cannot be brought about overnight. And asked students to make environment a part of their lives. Talking of the problem of encroachments, he said they would be removed soon as notices had already been issued.

Society president S.R.Choudhary took the opportunity to list out the various problems being faced in the township, on the occasion.
