Janata Dal (U) to press for wheel, Bangalore office

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICEBANGALORE, OCT 10: The Janata Dal (United) will stake its claim to retain the wheel symbol of the undivided Janata Dal, Karnataka Janata Dal (United) president C Byre Gowda said here on Saturday.

Speaking to newspersons, Byre Gowda said the symbol would have to be automatically restored to the Janata Dal (United) as the party had won 20 Lok Sabha seats. ``We also scored better than the Janata Dal (Secular) of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda in the State," said Byre Gowda. "We will also stake claim on taking back the Janata Dal office premises in Bangalore which is under the possession of the Janata Dal (Secular) now,'' he added. Byre Gowda added that the Janata Dal (United) would now separately form a group in the new Assembly and would fight against any anti-people policies formulated by the ruling party. On the question of continuing its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party, he said that the Janata Dal (United) was still part of the National Democratic Alliance.

However,he was noncommittal on any understanding with the Bharatiya Janata Party in future. ``We are supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party at the Centre. The question of whether we will continue to have an understanding with the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state does not arise. The issue will arise only in event of any elections,'' he added.
