MUMBAI, OCT 12: The Dabhol Power Company (DPC) today sought two weeks to file its affidavit in a contempt petition filed by the Anjanvel (Borbhatle-Katalwadi) Gramastha Mandal, which represents some of the villages in Guhagar where the project has been set up.The matter came up for hearing before Justice K K Baam of the Bombay High Court, where the petitioners argued that according to an order in a petition filed by them in the high court earlier, the DPC was to employ 200 persons and preference was to be given to persons rendered landless or to marginal landholders due to the acquisition of their land. However, they alleged that the benefit of service was not being given to the persons affected by the project.
The petitioners claimed that despite several oral requests and representations, asking for a list of persons given employment as well as a list of persons given compensation amounting to Rs 1 lkah in lieu of employment, the list had not been furnished.
