Nagpur, Oct 12: The Nagpur University has decided not to award Ph.D degree to Yadav Kohchade, the kingpin of its bogus degree and marksheet scandal.The management council of the university, at its meeting on Monday, also decided against awarding degrees, medals or prizes to students involved in the scandal, at its convocation scheduled for October 28.
Kohchade, who belongs to the backward community, started his career in the university as a chauffeur. He was a matriculate then and subsequently secured bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees. He served as a lecturer in Marathi before joining the university as assistant registrar. During his tenure as assistant registrar, he presided over the flourishing racket of awarding bogus degrees and marksheets against huge sums, in association with top functionaries of the university.
