Chouhan scores over Nazir

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA  
SHIMLA, OCT 13: R Chouhan (Rajasthan) defeated MD Nazir (Madhya Pradesh) on points in the featherweight category on the second day of 46th Senior National Boxing Championship being held today.

Also scoring on points were G Vishwanath (Goa), PK Mohanty (Orissa) and Y Rishikanta (Assam Rifles) over J Pathaw (Meghalaya), BA Naga (Bagaland) and LB Singh (Manipur) respectively.

In other bouts, DS Bisht (Delhi) beat A Subba (Sikkim) and P Thapa (Assam) trounced M Singh (Karnataka) when the referee stopped contest.

R Purushotam (Services Sports Control Board, SSCB) got a walkover from A Chakravorty (Tripura), who was medically unfit.

In the feather weight category, V Bhaskran (Railway Sports Promotion Board RSPB) and Naresh Dalal (MP) scored on points over Janardhan (UP) and S Shyam (CISF) respectively. A Sandil (Steel Plant Sports Board, SPSB), Bajrang Mahto (Bihar), V Yadav (Maharashtra) and MD Tarique (Bengal) beat Mahesh (Gujarat), CM Manoj (Kerala), S Sharma (Haryana) and S Kumar (Chandigarh)respectively after the referee stopped contests.

Rakesh Kumar (Punjab) got walkover from Sridhar (Tamil Nadu), who was medically unfit.

Himachal Pradesh's V Kumar lost to P Sreenath (AP) as the referee stopped contest in the fourth round following a head injury to the former.

In the light weight division, P Singh (Punjab) and R Ganesh (Pondichery) retired against V More (Maharashtra) in the first round and K Vir (All India Electricity Board) in the second round respectively.
