CHANDIGARH, Oct 17: The city police have arrested Roopnagar district resident Devinder Singh and Haridwar resident Nitin, who allegedly tried to snatch a gold chain from a woman in Sector 37 last night. Both accused are in their 20s and reportedly studying mechanical engineering in Gurdaspur. Police sources said around 10.30 p.m., Sector 34 resident Jagdeep Singh and his wife were coming out of a Bhawan in Sector 37 where some function was on, when Devinder tried to snatch the chain. He was held on the spot while Nitin, who sped off on a scooter, was caught from Sector 46.

They were visiting a friend in Sector 46 and had gone out on the latter's scooter. The police have registered a case for snatching against the two.
