Pandit's clinic opened

MUMBAI, OCT 17: Sachin Tendulkar's presence at the Hansraj Morarji Trust ground, Andheri was enough to create chaos. The Indian captain was invited by his senior Mumbai mate and former Indian wicket-keeper Chandrakant Pandit to inaugurate the latter's cricket clinic. While conveying his best wishes to Pandit, Tendulkar infused a sense of enthusiasm into Pandit's project saying, ``I would like to come here and spend some time with the boys.''

Hundreds of children besides a host of cricketers past and present and coach Ramakant Achrekar formed the audience on the inauguration ceremony.

Air-India Colony win

Air-India Colony beat Big Village, Mathar (Red) 3-1 in the Everup Leasing and Securities Limited-sponsored Our Lady of Egypt Church (Kalina) Sports Committee-organised Kalina Football League at St Mary's High School today. Jacinto D'Silva, Prakash Mohite and Rajesh Keshwan scored for the winners while Leon Barretto netted for the losers.

Lopez strikes

Adrian Lopez struck the lone goal as Tata Sports Club's beat Bombay Customs 1-0 in the J Koslaram Memorial Veterans' Football tournament today.

Tata Sports Club 1 bt Bombay Customs, Karnataka Sports Club 3 bt Western Railway 2, Air-India 2 bt Century Rayon 0.

Vaze triumph

Hosts VG Vaze (Mulund) won the District Sports Office-organised suburban shooting volleyball under-19 boys' tournament,beating Chowgule HS 2-0 (16-4, 16-6) in the final. Vishal B (4, 6), Tanveer Khan (5, 4), Swapnil T (2) and Rohit N (4) were the scorers.

Chembur shine

Chembur English defeated Central Railway Parel Workshop 2-1 in the eight-team super league play-off organised by the Mumbai District Football Association at St Xavier's Ground, Parel. Thomas Simon and Snehal Jadhav scored for the winners while Mario Rodrigues reduced the margin.
