WB loan to Haryana in jeopardy
With Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala having second thoughts about whether he should go ahead with power sector reforms in the state, Haryana may not get the second tranche, of $250 mn (Rs 1,100 crore), of a World Bank loan meant exclusively for the power sector.

44 industry sectors post growth in the first half
At least 44 Indian industry sectors, including automobiles and cement, have reported moderate to strong year-on-year output growth in the first half of 1999/2000 (April-March), a survey by a leading industry body said on Monday.

Panel moots norms for microfinance institutions
National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has recommended that microfinance institutions should be registered with a suitable regional or national authority.
