Stop insurgency, will talk -- India
India virtually threw down the gauntlet on Monday on resuming talks with Pakistan, saying it was ``imperative'' that Islamabad first cease cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir as well as in the rest of the country.

The US is keen to restart the dialogue between Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh and US Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott. This was conveyed by President Bill Clinton's backroom boys Bruce Riedel.

22 die in Orissa cyclone
At least 22 people were killed by the cyclonic storm which crossed the Orissa coast with gales blowing at 200 kmph during the wee hours on Monday, leaving a trail of devastation in Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Khurda districts.
