VADODARA, OCT 25: Around 150 students of first year B Sc boycotted the trial examinations which began from Monday. The students were protesting against the decision of faculty authorities against allowing them to change their primary subjects as per their choice. These students also submitted a memorandum to MSU Vice-Chancellor Anil Kane demanding that immediate action be taken so that the students could change their subjects and start their studies with the new subject.
General Secretary of the student's union, Prakash Verma said, ``The students had been promised a change at the time of admissions, but since there were no vacancy at that time, the applicants had no option but to continue in whatever subjects they had been given.'' But these subjects were always their second choice, he said.
But with more than 300 students taking admissions at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology now these seats have naturally fallen vacant. ``If the faculty has taken a stand that they would be giving subjects on the basis of merit then they should see to it that they grant admissions to those students at least who fit into the criteria of marks as fixed by the faculty,'' said Verma.
Verma said the students would continue their agitation and stay away from their trial tests.
