BANGALORE, OCT 25: Senior BJP leader B B Shivappa, MLA from Sakleshpur, was suspended from the primary membership of the BJP for his involvement in anti-party activities and indiscipline, according to a press release from State BJP president B S Yediyurappa.The press release also stated that Shivappa had conducted himself in highly indisciplined manner during the election to the BJP legislature party leader on Sunday.
The press release stated that show-cause notice had been issued to Shivappa and further action would be initiated soon after his reply to the notice. BJP national general secretary Venkaiah Naidu had initiated the inquiry following the violence that took place outside the new party office in Malleswaram on Sunday.
Several vehicles were damaged, policemen and media persons were injured in the violence which took place at the party office on Sunday afternoon soon after the election of the BJPLP leader. As Shivappa walked out after announcement of the election of the Jagadeesh Shettar, hissupporters went on a rampage.
Meanwhile, three BJP MLAs from the city have demanded Shivappa's removal from the party. The MLAs -- R Ashok from Uttarahalli, P C Mohan from Chickpet and Katta Subramayam Naidu from Shivajinagar -- in their memorandum to the party's State and national-level leadership stated that the expulsion of Shivappa from the party was essential `to prevent the Congress culture from creeping into the party'. The removal of Shivappa will also strengthen the party in the State, they stated.
The memorandum to the party leadership stated that Shivappa must do an introspection of his contributions to the party's development during the last five years.
