Mob attacks police station

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
KANCHEEPURAM, OCT 31: A 1,500 strong mob, including 300 women, on Sunday attacked a police station in the wake of the alleged attack on a sub-inspector (SI) by his own colleagues for his effective handling of the illicit liquor menace in Thusi village in Kancheepuram district of Tamil Nadu.

When the villagers came to know of the attack on the SI, Haridoss, they gathered in front of the police station and started throwing stones in the process damaging windows, tube lights and the name board. They also smashed the compound walls of the police station and damaged two police jeeps.

Cheyyar Deputy Superintendent of Police J Bhaskaran was injured in the stone throwing.

The villagers then went on rampage attacking a private clinic, opposite the police station, where the SI was allegedly not treated properly. They also brought the furniture out of the clinic and destroyed them.

Tension prevailed as the villagers also blocked roads disrupting vehicular traffic.
