Two days later, Orissa still marooned
Two days after a devastating cyclone ripped through Orissa, rescue operators began to cross the flooded roads blocked by uprooted trees and pylons and rivers with no bridges, to reach the people marooned in the island of darkness and gloom.

Badal pre-empts dissidents
As the signature campaign against him gained momentum, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal last night sought fresh mandate from the Akali Dal Legislature Party while holding a veiled threat of dissolution of the Vidhan Sabha.

The meeting expressed full faith in the ``solid, clear and farsighted leadership'' being provided to the party and the state by Badal. At the end of the meeting, Badal recalled the threat to him during his first tenure as CM and the way he recommended dissolution of the Vidhan Sabha.
