Delhi struggling against Punjab

PATIALA, Oct 31: Chasing Punjab's total of 369, Delhi made 164 runs for the loss of seven wickets on the second day of Cooch-Behar under-19 cricket tournament at the Dhruve Pandove Stadium here today.

Chetan Sharma played an anchore's role in building Delhi's innings by contributing 53 runs. Gautam Ghambir and Pardeep Chawla made 27 runs each. Sidharath Verma contributed 26. Sanjay Dhull (2 for 28) and Vivek Mahajan (2 for 11) emerged the most successful bowlers for Punjab.

Delhi: 164 for 7 in 70 overs: Chetan Sharma 53, Gautam Ghambir 27, Sidharath Verma 26, Pradeep Chawla 27 not out, Sanjay Dhull 2-28, Vivek Mahajan 2-11).

Chandigarh cops win
Chandigarh Police defeated Muslim Club, Malerkotla via tie breaker 3-1 on the second day of 24th Gurdarshan Singh Memorial football tournament at Government Ripudaman College Stadium, Nabha, today.

After a goalless draw in the regulation period, tie-break rule was applied to break the deadlock. Ajay, Satnam and Kuldeep converted for Chandigarh Police while Mehtab scored for Malerkotla Club.

In the second match of the day between Lions Club, Ambala Cantt and Nivia Club, Jalandhar, was also decided via tie-break.

Vinod, Manoj and Kirpal scored for Nivia Club, Jalandhar. Rajesh netted for Lions Club.

Gurdaspur girls excel
Gurdaspur (girls under-12) and Patiala (boys under-14) stood first at the conclusion of compulsory excercises in the 15th Punjab State Sub-Junior gymnastic championship at Khalsa Higher Secondary School ground in Roopnagar, today. Gurdaspur girls collected 100.95 points while Amritsar were second with 73.05 points. Roopnagar were third with 67.40 points.

In the boys under-14 section, Patiala logged 216.00 points while Gurdaspur were at the second spot with 203.95 points. Amritsar were third with 139.05 points.
