Two killed in mishaps

PUNE, Nov 1: Two persons, including a young researcher, were killed in two separate road mishaps which took place in the city on Sunday.

Vikram Surendra Kumar Puri (28), who was doing research in computer science, was killed on the spot when a truck dashed against his motorbike on the Pashan Road.

Chatuhshrungi police said Surendra Kumar, who hailed from Rajpura village in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, was doing research at the Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research.

The mishap took place opposite the Pune rural police headquarters at Chavan Nagar. Policemen present in the area shifted Surendra Kumar to a hospital where he was proclaimed dead on arrival. The police are searching for the truck driver.

Another mishap on Pune-Solapur road claimed the life of Balasaheb Rambhau Mhetre (41) of Magarpatta in Hadapsar.

Mhetre was cycling when a truck dashed his cycle.
