VADODARA, Nov 3: Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) sleuths arrested an employee of a Surat-based company from Hotel Siddharth Palace on J P Road and seized currency notes worth over Rs 1.5 lakh from him last night.The sleuths were on the look out for suspects involved in the loot-cum-murder at the Honda city car showroom on Sunday night and for notorious smuggler Sanja Mokashe who is said to be in the city.
After interrogating some people staying in hotels around Sayajigunj, the police team went to Hotel Siddhartha Palace. The man in suite no 207 appeared nervous on seeing them. Initially, he tried to give them the slip. He had booked the suite under a false name -- Rajesh Patel.
When grilled further, he told the police that he was a supervisor working with C. Raj Company in Surat and his real name was Raisin Edward. He said he had withdrawn Rs 3.25 lakh from the company's bank account for paying bonus to employees on October 19, but ran away with the money.
According to the police, the man had spent about one lakh rupees in less than 15 days. Hotel staff told the police that the man used to give rich tips. Edward has now been shifted to Surat for further investigation.
