CHENNAI, NOV 3: All cases against AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalitha will be dealt with legally and there will be no external ``interference'', Union Minister of State for Law, Justice and Company Affairs O Rajagopal said yesterday.Asked if the Centre would speed up the cases against Jayalalitha, Rajagopal said: ``The position of the Government is clear and it will allow the law to take its own course. The cases will be dealt with as any other case and there will be no political vendetta,'' he said.
On the legal position of the Government on the inclusion of Rajiv's name in the chargesheet, he said Minister of State for I&B Arun Jaitley had explained the stand in the LS. ``However, now the question of inclusion or deletion of the name does not arise as it is with the investigating agency, '' he added. On the visit of Pope John Paul II, he said the Vajpayee Government has extended an invitation to the Pope and he will be an ``honoured guest''. ``We will see that the Pope's visit to the country ispeaceful'' he added.
Later, addressing party workers, he said the BJP wished to eliminate ``politics of confrontation'' and replace it with ``politics of conference.'' Constructive views and criticism from any party or person should be accepted if it could help in the development of the country, he added. BJP state president K N Lakshmanan and state general secretary L Ganesan were among those present.
