Village folk kill and feast on evil Cambodian doc

AFP
Phnom Penh, Nov 04: A Cambodian witch doctor was murdered and eaten by angry villagers after he was accused of casting deadly spells, it was reported here Thursday.

Sok Mouk, 46, from the north-western province of Battambang, was shot six times after which his killers cut out his lung and ate it cooked while sipping an alcoholic beverage, Khmer-language newspaper Rasmei Kampuchea reported.

One of the killers handed himself into police after the gruesome festivities complaining he had lost two children and a sister to the witch doctor's magic, the report said.

It said police were hunting for three other suspects.

Cambodia is a deeply superstitious country, and years of brutal civil war has left a culture were even the most trivial disputes often end in recourse to extreme violence.
