PUNE, NOV 10: Khed MP Ashok Mohol recently demanded the inclusion ofSiddhivinayak Nagari near Appu Ghar at Nigdi, in the Pimpri-ChinchwadMunicipal Corporation limits. The area is presently in the Dehu RoadCantonment Board limits.In a letter to the chief executive officer of the board, Mohol also askedfor holding a meeting next week to discuss the civic problems, including thesevere water shortage, faced by the residents in Dehu Road.
Residents of Siddhivinayak Nagari, as well as Parmar Chambers and Dattanagarhad demanded that the area, which at present forms part of ward No. five ofthe Dehu Road Cantonment, be included in the Pimpri-Chinchwad limits.
Residents in the area feel that civic amenities would be improved if thearea is included in the PCMC limits. Mohol in his letter stated that he helddiscussions with Defence Minister George Fernandes in this regard.
The Defence Ministry agreed to consider the proposal if the cantonment boardissues a `no objection' letter for inclusion of the area in PCMC limits,Mohol said. Mickey Kocchar, president of the Rashtravadi Students' Union hadmet Mohol and appraised him of the problems faced by the residents in DehuRoad. Accordingly Mohol said that he would hold a meeting with the board'sexecutive officer.
