School kids in cleanliness drive

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, Nov 11: The plan proposed by former Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal commissioner Ganesh Thakur to involve school children for spreading public awareness for a clean city, will finally come into effect from December this year.

On the seventh of every month, school children will now take on to the streets, performing plays and other musical sequences to stress upon the people the need for maintaining clean surroundings. Volunteers of the PCMC's project for promotion of arts and sports will be drawing up themes for street plays as well as organise other programmes for the schools. The school children will present their programmes at major chowks in the twin township. The decision was taken at a meeting to review the cleanliness drive programme on Saturday.
