Cashier robbed
Santosh Dnyaneshwar Takawane, a cashier from the milk distribution centre of Shivamrut Dairy at Landewadi, has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at Bhosari police station claiming that he was robbed to the tune of over Rs 20,000 by two youths.

In his FIR, Takawane said he had started his duty early on Tuesday when the two youths, who were wielding a sword and a knife, entered the milk distribution centre. The two youths, Takawane claimed in his FIR, threatened to kill him and stole some pouches of milk as well as Rs 20,338 in cash. The FIR said both the youths were aged between 20 and 22 years.

Youths nabbed for stealing Kalewadi residents Govind Mallappa alias Ramesh Mane (19) and Shankar Hiralal alias Nandu Deokar (19) have been arrested by the Chatushrungi police on charges of burgling the Priyanka Engineering Works fabrication unit at Kalewadi.

Police said Mane and Deokar had stolen spare parts of Indica car, totally estimated to be worth Over Rs 18,220, from the fabrication unit between Saturday and Tuesday. The owner of the fabrication unit, Ashok R Singh, had lodged a complaint with the Chatushrungi police in this connection. Some of the stolen spare parts have already been recovered from the two youths, according to the police.

Man killed in explosion
Kolhapur:
An employee of a gas agency was killed on the spot when an equipment exploded while he was presenting a demonstration on fire fighting operations, here recently.

The deceased, Sanjay Ramchandra Patil (32), was employed by Navbharat Gas Agency at its warehouse at Pratibhanagar. Some officials of the company had visited the warehouse to inspect the fire-fighting equipment available there. Patil was giving them demonstrations on fire fighting operations when one of the equipment exploded, killing him on the spot. Rajarampuri police station has registered a case in this connection.
