Israeli infotech leader, Magic Software is planning to up its stake in India by taking 51 per cent in their Indian subsidiary Magic Software India.

That is the philosophy that the Israeli company officials are banking on as they set out to get 51 per cent in their Indian subsidiary. According to the Israeli officials, with Pune coming up in such a big way in the Infotech industry, they would be keen on a much larger stake.

Something that the Indian company officials are sure, will not happen. In either case, both sides are keen that Indian programmers form the core group of their software support services. ``A team sitting here in Pune will be able to service a clientele in Germany,'' says Teiblum as he elaborates on their global village philosophy.

In town for the first ever global strategy meet of the Israeli company, Teiblum represents Israel's efforts to muscle into the global software industry. ``We are already exporting nearly software worth three billion US dollars and we are growing,'' says Teiblum. With Magic Software India (MSI) their largest subsidiary in the world they are all set to grow.

The products they are launching, they claim, are unique and not available anywhere. The latest to come from their stables is PeopleWise, a package touted to be a complete human resources management system. It caters to the complete employment cycle from recruitment to termination or retirement of the employee. From manpower planning to selection and recruitment, personnel management, payroll, loans and advances are some of the salient features that the package helps keep track of.

Products like these are expected to help the company grow on a global scale according to marketing head David Leichner. Presently they are looking at India as a major partner in their services and have already launched a 10 member service team that is expected to cater to the global market.

Chances are that Magic Software could be looking for a 51 per cent stake in their Indian subsidiary and negotiations are on to that effect. With the company poised to get a ISO 9000 certificate it is keen to expand its base all over India.
