The District Supply Office had discussed the relief measures for cyclone-hit coastal state at the meeting with State Civil Supplies Minister Ashok Bhatt on Sunday night, Khachar said, adding that Bhatt was happy to note the extra contribution from the district. ``The holidays would enable us to collect more, as we expect to get about 130 tonnes of rice, medicines and clothes during the next three days,'' he said. A special meeting on the subject would be held at the collectorate on Tuesday, Khachar added.

It may be recalled that apart from last week's Sadbhavana train to Orissa, senior police officials, bureaucrats hailing from Orissa and members of the Utakala Association here had contributed two more bogeys of relief material through the Ahmedabad-Puri Express on Monday night.

Meanwhile, according to official information, the district administration has invited applications from people living below poverty-line till December, 1999. According to an official spokesman, the government has recently framed rules to give Rs 10,000 to families living below poverty-line in the event of an unnatural death and Rs 5,000 to injured members of the family. There are about3.2 lakh people living below poverty line in the district.
