Cash, jewellery worth Rs 8,000 stolen from temple

PANCHKULA, NOV 15: Cash and jewellery worth Rs 8,000 was stolen from the Sector 2 temple here last night. The incident took place in spite of the fact that two pandits and the family of one of them were asleep in the temple premises. The incident was discovered only early in the morning when the temple was being opened.

Talking to Newsline, the pandit of the temple, Chandi Prasad Shastri said when he got up around 5 a.m. to open the temple, he found a pot lying in front of his quarter. Then, he saw that the main door of the temple was open and on going in he found the dan patar (donation box) broken into. The entire cash was missing. Also, the locker inside the temple had been opened and some gold and silver ornaments were found missing.
