Yogic fete at Santacruz
The Yoga Institute, Santacruz has organised a day of yogic activities on November 18 to celebrate the 103rd birth anniversary of its founder, Shri Yogendraji.Yogic games for children, yogic diets for adults, yogic practices for students, and yogic training for school teachers will be the focus of this function. A poster exhibition and a visit to the yogic museum are also on the agenda.

Dr Shubhada Joshi, Head of the Department of Philosophy, University of Mumbai will preside over the function. Municipal Commissioner, V Nalinakshan, will conclude the programme by awarding the yogic research title to psychiatrist Dr A S Dandekar. Swimming competition
As part of Navy Week celebrations, the Western Naval Command has organised the first All-India Open Sea Swimming Competition on November 28. In two categories - men and women, the race will take placefrom Prongs Reef Buoy to the Naval Sailing Club, Colaba, covering a distance of 6 km. The event is open to anyone above the age of 12 and the last date for submission of entry forms is November 20. Internet training for doctors
The help library has announced a free internet training course for doctors entitled Doctors.com from November 15. Conducted by Dr Hufrish Suraliwala, Medical Information Manager at HELP, the course will teach doctors how to search the web for medical information. Course in special education
The sixth module of the four month part-time training course - ``An Introduction to Learning Disabilities'' conducted by the Arya Vidya Mandir Institute of Special Education will begin from November 27.

Sindhi council inaugurated
The Thane chapter of the Sindhi Council of India was recently inaugurated by its national president and Member of Parliament Suresh Keswani and Mumbai region chief coordinator Harish Dubey. Keswani said that even after sacrificing their land to win freedom for the country, the Sindhis are given step-motherly treatment and denied the basic and fundamental right of representation in political institutions of the country.
