Award for Kalam, Alexander
Scientist Dr Abdul Kalam, Maharashtra Governor Dr P C Alexander, jurist Dr Nani Palkhhivala and Sant Morari Bapu have been selected for the second Chandrasekharendra Saraswati National Eminence Award instituted by the South Indian Education Society. The award, which carries Rs 2.5 lakh, a citation and a silver scroll, will be presented early next year, according to the trustees of SIES. The Chandrasekharendra Saraswati has been instituted in memory of the 68th shankracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam.Polio chain at Nariman Point
The Rotary Club of South Bombay will form a human chain from Nariman Point to Chowpatty between 10 am to 11 am on November 17 to commemorate the pledge of a `polio-free India' and express solidarity with the cause.
