Mastan YMCA, Western Railway register wins

Nov 25: Mastan YMCA men won both their First Division matches in the UPL Hoop-a-Loop Weekend Basketball League. They defeated Learn the Game 86 20 at the Late Bachoo Kham Municipal ground, Nagpada. They then defeated Eagles 62-36 in the Mumbai Police Ground, Naigaon.

In the women's super League, Western Railway defeated archrivals to square the seven-game series 1-all.

Ghatkopar YMCA in final

Hosts Ghatkopar YMCA crushed the challenge from TMG to enter the finals of the Junior Boys event in the XII Bombay YMCA open basketball tournament, sponsored by Kanara Engineering, today. The full court press employed by Ghatkopar YMCA coach Pancho Acharya unsettled the TMG boys, and the defending champions won 61-24.

Men: Ghatkopar YMCA `A' 105 (Ramesh Iyer 38, Pancho Acharya 20, Francis Pereira 21) bt LTG 60 (Nitan Kumar 14, Desmond D'Souza 9) HT 44-23; Somaiya SC 59 (Javed Shaikh 30) bt Ghatkopar Veterans 49 (Nitin Shetty 25, Sunil S 19) HT 31-32.

Junior Boys: Ghatkopar YMCA `A' 61 (Satyam Lokhande 17, Chetan Shetty 16, Manoj Chaudhari 10, Ashish Lad 9) bt TMG 24 (Rohit D'Souza 6) HT 37-8.
