EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, November 25: Deepak Kaushik's all-round performance (four for 24 and 23) and a consistent display by his teammates enabled DSI Club defeat Collage Group by two runs in a thrilling opening encounter of the second JD Textiles Trophy cricket tournament at the Mohan Meakin ground, near here today.

The victory helped DSI enter the quarter-finals, where they will take on the winners of tomorrow's match between RR Gymkhana and Sahara Airlines. The quarter-final match is slated for December 1.

Winning the toss, Collage put DSI in on a wicket that aided the bowlers. So much so, DSI found the going tough and just about managed 189 for seven in their allotted 40 overs. Openers Rakesh Rawat, dropping anchor, played well to compile 56, to be the top scorer. Useful contributions also came from from other opener Paras Prajapati (38) who, in the company of Rawat, raised 94 runs for the first wicket. But after their departure, the middle order caved found a spoke in their wheel of progress as Virender Sehwag, Sanjay Verma and Mahesh Bhati captured two wickets apiece.

In reply, Collage were coasing along comfortable at one stage on 153 for four.
