Case against Brian Health disposed of

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Mumbai, Nov 26: Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Usha Iyer has disposed of the case concerning a show cause notice for contempt of court against US vice-consul Brian Heath after the the consul general, David Good tendered an apology on his behalf.

In her order, the magistrate said the court had received a letter dated November 19 from Good narrating the circumstances under which the vice consul was present in court.

``The letter shows that the consulate officers are claiming immunity. The letter also shows that David Good, consul general of the US, has expressed regret over the applicant's behaviour and remarks passed in court on November 16,'' the order added.

The magistrate had issued a show-cause notice against Heath after he ``arrogantly'' replied that it was not the business of the court to know why he wanted to visit an NRI accused B Kapadia, who was arrested in a diamond smuggling case.
