Cases against four cheats
J P Road police has registered a case of cheating against four persons Rajendra Parikh, Dharmendra Praful Shah, Torveen and Anand K Sahuluwalish. According to complainant Ashaben Satishkumar Balwant, an employee of the Vaisya Bank Ltd, near Race Course, stood guarantor for Rs one lakh taken by Shah for a period of three months. Ashaben stood guarantor on request by her colleague Parikh. However, at the time of repayment, Shah deposited Rs 1,15,400 through bank cheques issued by Torveen and Sahuluwalish which bounced. Investigations are on.Burn deaths
SURAT: A resident of Mahaprabhnagar area of Limbayat succumbed to her burn injuries after Saturday midnight. Rekha Bhimrao Mahadev, 23, was being treated at Maskati Hospital, for burns sustained on November 10, the police said. According to Rekha's dying declaration, she was cooking on a stove when her sari accidentally caught fire. In another case registered at Udhna Police Station, Jashoda Prahlad Rawal (35) of Agarwalnagar in Udhna also died at the Maskati Hospital on Saturday night. Jashoda was making tea at her house at around 10:30 pm when her night gown caught fire, the dying declaration recorded by the police said. Cases under CrPC 174 have been registered in the respective police stations and are being investigated.
PASA arrests
The city Prevention of Crime Branch on Sunday arrested three persons, including a woman, under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities (PASA) Act for illegally storing and selling Indian-Made Foreign Liquor in Pandesara area of the city. Th three, all residents of Daxeshwarnagar in Pandesara, have been sent to Sabarmati, Bhuj and Porbander jails respectively.
Woman killed
Gangaji Bhil, a woman residing at Dambi village of Mandvi taluka, died after wheels of a truck rolled over her head, the Mandvi police said. According to the police, the unidentified driver of a truck, which has been identified only by its number -- 7810 -- was reversing his vehicle when the mishap took place. The driver is absconding since and the police has registered a case under sections of IPC and MVA and is investigating further.
Man ends life
Ramesh Nahak (18), a resident of Un village off Sachin, committed suicide by hanging to a tree on outskirts of the village during night hours, the Sachin police said. The body of Nahak was recovered from the tree on Saturday night. The police has registered a case under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
