BEST claims Y2K compliance

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
Nov 29: The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking has made the electric supply system Y2K compliant and all the vital equipments, which are to be taken care of in view of the Y2K problem, have been identified and its software suitably modified.

An official statement stated that BEST being a consumer of Tata Electric Companies, which is a part of the western grid, the failure of any major equipment in the grid due to the Y2K problem can cause a grid failure which may affect BEST consumers too. But due to the very nature, complexity and interdependency of the Y2K problem it may not be possible to say with 100 per cent certainty that no eventuality will take place at the time of the millennium changeover, the release added.
