PATIALA, NOV 29: Passengers travelling by the Himgiri Express had a miraculous escape this morning when three bogies of the train developed a mechanical fault.Reliable sources told Chandigarh Newsline here tonight that the Himgiri Express was coming from Jammu side and close to the Rajpura railway station it was found that the brakes of some of bogies were jammed. This was probably caused by overheating of the wheels, sources pointed out. The railway authorities immediately detached the three bogies and rectified the fault.
Sources said the trouble was of a minor nature and the train was stuck at the Rajpura railway station for over 40 minutes. Sources ruled out any sabotage and maintained that it was just a mechanical fault.
Senior officers of the General Railway Police based in Patiala were not available for comments despite repeated attempts to contact them.
Officers in the district administration were also ignorant about the incident and maintained that the railway police authorities had not informed them of any such problem.
