Virasat inaugurated
Virasat '99 a career-cum-cultural festival was inaugurated at the GGDSD College, Sector 32, by Sant Kashmira Singh, founder chairman, International Forum for All Religions (Wakhar Dham) here on Monday. The festival which is organised to commemorate the memory of Prof Roshan Lal Verma and his wife, had various food and career related events for the students to participate.Delhi IIT founder's death condoled
The Director, the engineering department, administrative department and the staff of Nehru Hospital, PGI, condoled the death of Prof R.N.Dogra, founder of IIT Delhi. According to Dr B.K.Sharma, Prof Dogra had a long association with PGI and had made a great contribution to this town as well as the nation.
Cultural show held at Paragon School
The students of the Paragon Senior Secondary School, S.A.S. Nagar, presented a colourful cultural programme on their 20th annual prize distribution function held here on Sunday.The function started with a Sarasvati vandana, which was followed by the song "We shall overcome some day." Some children recited poems, while others danced to the number Hindustani. Himachali, Punjabi and classical dances were also performed. A skit "War Heroes" was enacted on the occasion. Gurvir Kaur, who stood first in SAS Nagar in the Class X examination of the Punjab School Education Board was presented the Gurparampal Kaur Memorial Trophy and a cheque of Rs 5,100. Jatinder Singh was awarded the Jatinder Pal Singh Memorial Trophy for standing first in Class VIII. Punjab School Education Board chairman Dr Kehar Singh and SDM O.P. Popli were also present on the occasion.
