Subhash Thakur gang member held in Delhi

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, DECEMBER 2: Delhi Police has foiled a bid to establish an extortion base in the capital by arresting an alleged henchman of the Subhash Thakur gang active in Mumbai along with three associates.

The accused, Arput Raj alias "Appa", was evading arrest since the past five months after being released on parole in April, Deputy Commissioner of Police said here today.

A police team had been formed to track him which questioned an architect who had given surety for Raj's parole.

The architect told police that two persons, involved in threatening A Delhi-based businessman, V B Rao and Kamlesh Jain, were in touch with him and the accused.

Police laid a trap and arrested the two accused when they landed in Delhi to meet the architect. On their sustained interrogation, they revealed that Raj was also in the capital and residing in south Delhi. Raj was later arrested.
