EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

NAGPUR, DECECEMBER 21: Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has asked Minister of State for Home Kripa Shankar Singh to submit a report on his observations about the police machinery during the surprise visit Singh paid to some of the police stations and the control room in the city on Saturday night.

In an informal discussion with a group of newsmen on Monday, Deshmukh said that he has taken a serious note of Singh's observation during the visit and said action would be taken against erring police officials.

The Minister of State for Home visited the city police control room late Saturday night and found that everyone, including senior officers present in the control room, were asleep.

Singh virtually woke up each and every official found sleeping inside the control room and none of them even recognised him. He was also not recognised at the Lakadganj and Pachpaoli police stations, which he visited prior to arriving at the control room.

Singh was in the control room to get first-hand information on amob, collected at Sardar police station, demanding the release of the two suspects arrested for assaulting a noted lawer.
