
200 volunteers ready to trade places with hostages

MUMBAI, DECEMBER 30: In a novel gesture, around 200 volunteers from Mumbai under the leadership OF R S Ahluwalia, chairman of Mukat Group of Companies have offered to trade places with the hostages held abroad the IC-184 Indian Airlines flight in Kandahar in Afghanistan.The group on Thursday organised demonstrations and held placards expressing their solidarity with the hostages.
In a letter to the Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, they have requested for a flight to be organised from Mumbai to Kandahar immediately, so that the hijackers may be asked to accept all of them in exchange for the present hostages.
The volunteers include Parminder Singh, former principal of Holy Cross High School Mrs Bali and an cancer patient, Hashmukh Patel among others.
