Government handled the crisis well -- Hostages' kin
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

NEW DELHI, DECEMBER 31: The relatives of the 155 passengers, who were held hostage on board the Indian Airlines aircraft IC-814 since last Friday, were trilled and relieved when they heard the news of their release. The relatives have been camping in New Delhi for the a week now for some news of their relatives on board the hijacked flight.

"What best New Year gift we can receive but the information that our near and dear ones are free from the clutches of the hijackers and are home bound," said one of the relatives with tears in his eyes.

"Government has handled the situation very wisely and in an apt manner," said A K Das, whose daughter-in-law is among the released hostages. "I am relieved and very happy as the episode ended on a positive note," he added.

The relatives of the hostages have been critical of the Government over the handling of the hijacking situation saying it was not doing much to resolve the crisis.
