Rajasthan panel wants 18 more castes in OBC list

Jaipur, Dec 31: The Rajasthan state Other Backward Classes commission has recommended the inclusion of 18 more castes, including Vishnois, Meos and Kayamkhanis, into the state's list of other backward classes.

The recommendations were contained in the sixth report of the commission submitted to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot by Justice R S Verma here yesterday, official sources said today.

State Minister for public health Ram Singh vishnoi andagriculture Minister tayyab hussain had been spearheading the campaign for the communities' inclusion in the list.

Justice verma said the commission would hold a hearingon the submission to include jats in bharatpur and dholpur into the obc category after receiving a copy of the report of the National obc commission.

The recommendation of the National commission to includeRajasthan jats, barring those of bharatpur and dholpur where they had been rulers in the past, into the obc category has already been accepted and implemented by the central and state governments.
