Wild card for Kilderry

Chennai, Dec 31; The third and last wild card for the main draw of the Gold Flake Open 2000 was given to Paul ``killer'' Kilderry, the 26 year old Australian, who is making a come back to the international tennis scene.

``I am really thankful and excited to be given the opportunity to play singles in a prestigious tournament, and I am hopeful that this will help me resurrect my career after injuries in the past three years, said Kilderry. He also confirmed that he will be playing doubles at the Gold Flake Open.

SAFIN PULLS OUT: Tournament organisers IMG announced that some of the players have withdrawn because of injuries. Marat Safin pulled out due to elbow injury. The others to pull out were Spaniards Albert Portas (knee injury) and Juan Carlos Ferrero, and American Cecil Mamit.

The injured players' place will be taken by the top three available players from the Alternate List.
