Religious Conversion and Caste System

Dear Sir,
No where in Vedic Literature has it been stated that one is born Brahmin or Kshatriya or Vheshya or Shudra or Dalit. If that was true than Maharishi Valmiki would not have become Brahmin. One's caste was decided upon the education and profession.

Because of hatred for current day caste system one should not convert to other religion. When one converts to other religion because of hatred, they are giving up on fighting to correct wrong done to their forefather.

I would urge my Dalit and Shudra (based on current definition) friends to fight for their rightful place in Hindu Society based on their education and profession and not to give in to so called higher castes dictate.

Many of today's dalits and shudra are engineers, doctors, teachers, military man and businessman. As per Vedic defination you already belong to higher caste.

At the same time many of so called higher caste brahmins are not brahmins as they may be cleaning toilet in U.K., U.S.A. or serving as a manual laborer. They are Shudra per Vedic definition.

So let us reclaim our honor and fight for our rightful place in Hindu Society/Culture based on education and profession.

K. Patel, USA
