Mcgrath escapes with a caution

Melbourne: Glenn McGrath was on Sunday cautioned by the match referee Ranjan Madugalle for his over-the-top reaction at claiming the prize scalp of Indian skipper Sachin Tendulkar. The paceman, after being hit for three fours, trapped Tendulkar leg before with an in-dipper and ran down the pitch, glaring at the Indian skipper while shouting `Yes'. McGrath was cautioned by Madugalle and umpires Darrell Hair and Ian Robinson.

The ball would have gone above the stumps, in the opinion of former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar, doing commentary on television.Gavaskar was at it again when Brett Lee bowled. One delivery that Brett Lee bowled to Hrishikesh Kanitkar was described as questionable by Gavaskar.Lee had straightened his arm and elbow, the former Indian skipper observed after watching an extra quick yorker length ball that deflected off the batsman's boots for four leg byes. But Gavaskar added wryly, ``But we know nothing is going to happen. Only players in the sub-continent are punished.''
