Tribals attack village, torch more houses
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

BERHAMPUR, JANUARY 4: Yet another clash, third in the series of Pana-tribals violence, has been reported from Mankadapanka village in Gajapati District on Monday. Despite deployment of a large contingent of police force in that area in view of the fatal clashes, several Pana houses at the village were burnt by irate tribals. Some of the Pana families had fled Mankadpanka apprehending attacks. The miscreants only burnt the abandoned houses.

It is yet to be ascertained who exactly were involved in the fire incidents. Last week, eight people were killed at Majhiguda. On Sunday Amarpur village bore the burnt where 14 houses were torched.

After the attack at Amarpur, armed police were deployed. But Pana families fled their houses to safety, leaving behind the police to watch their abandoned houses. As the police were withdrawn from Amarpur, the abandoned houses were gutted.
