Language of Music
As Pune played host to the sizzling and lissome wannabe Miss Indias from all over the country, the city was thronged by celebrities. The duo from North France, Eric Mouquet and Michel Sanchez who call themselves `Deep Forest' performed live for the first time in India at the Femina Miss India Contest. Deep Forest, which has three albums to their credit, Deep Forest, Boheme and Comparse, claims to have drawn on age-old voices and sounds from distant corners, transcending national and language boundaries to create a different and universal sound. So what do they think of India? Well... they believe a 10-day stay is too short a period to discover a country but as Sanchez says: ``India has always been a country rich in culture and respects tradition. Youngsters here listen to techno music and go to pubs but they still hold on to their tradition. Although the world today is becoming uniform, it is important that each country preserve it's own uniqueness.'' They want to return to India and work with Indianartistes to come up with a whole new kind of music.
